The Little Things I Notice Now

The little things I notice now…
aren’t really new.

They’ve always been there.

And so have I.

These quiet moments
slowly became comforting to me.

A gentle connection
to the life I once knew…

and to the things
that still brought me peace.

At times,
it felt like Mother Nature
was reminding me she was there.

Offering comfort
when I needed it most.

Warmth during difficult seasons.

Space to breathe
when life felt overwhelming.

And somehow…

through all of it,

I didn’t feel completely alone.

The biggest change now
is how deeply I notice these things.

Not because they weren’t there before

but because something inside me
has changed.

There’s less waiting now.

Less holding my breath.

Less wondering
what comes next.

My surroundings feel different too.

I’m drawn toward the world around me
in a quieter, calmer way

not searching…

just being.

There’s peace in that.

A kind I didn’t always recognize before.

I feel myself living
inside these moments now.

Healing also taught me
how much peace can come
from slowing down enough
to truly notice life again,
something I reflected on more deeply
in Finding Peace in Quiet Moments.

Earlier in healing,
there were long stretches of time
when I felt tucked away from life,
something I reflected on more deeply
in Cocoon of Healing.

Somewhere along the way…

it feels like I slowly discovered life again.

Bright birds crossing the sky…

their songs echoing through the trees.

Squirrels chasing one another
from branch to branch…

completely lost in their little worlds.

I find myself watching them
longer than I realize.

My lake has become part of that healing too.

Especially the little peninsula
hidden among the trees.

Walking toward it
feels like leaving the weight of life behind
one step at a time.

Walking in silence
slowly became part of that healing too,
something I reflected on more deeply
in When I Walk.

Deep breaths.

Water rippling softly.

Wind moving through the branches overhead.

Everything slows down there.

And over time…

that quiet place
has become somewhere I return to
whenever I need to feel
the peace and serenity
it gives me.
